Article I. - School Board#

Sec. 1. - Composition; qualifications and appointment of members.#

There shall be a school board of the City of Hopewell, which shall consist of five trustees who shall be residents of the City of Hopewell, who shall be appointed by a majority vote of the whole membership of the city council as hereinbefore provided.

Sec. 2. - Filling of vacancies; powers and duties.#

Any vacancy occurring in said school board by expiration of term of office or other reason shall be filled by a majority vote of the said city council. The said school board shall have all the powers and duties relating to the management and control of the public schools of the city provided by the general laws of Virginia.

Sec. 3. - Reports.#

The said school board shall make such reports to the city manager as the said city manager and council may require.
